Playa Hermosa

Living up to its name Beautiful Beach, this little slice of heaven is one of several Playa Hermosas along Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast– the others are situated near Santa Teresa, Playa Jaco, and Uvita. This particular Hermosa is renowned for its calm waters and laid-back ambiance, making it a favorite for families and extended holidays.

The charming beachfront village offers all of the standard, small-town amenities, like a grocery store and pharmacy, as well as a colorful assortment of restaurants and bars that reflect the mix of local and international residents.

Playa Hermosa is located in Guanacaste Province, approximately 30 minutes from the Liberia International Airport. Water sports and tours to nearby islands are popular draws, as are ATV rentals and horseback riding in the forested hillside hugging the interior. Visitors wanting to mix relaxation with nightlife can easily pop over to nearby Playas del Coco, where the notoriously rowdy bar scene provides entertainment from dusk till dawn.
